Women in Wine and Spirits: Heike Heinrich

Post image

Founded in 1990 by Heike and Gernot Heinrich, Weingut Heinrich is a family-owned winery located in the Burgenland region of Austria. Heike and Gernot both come from winemaking families and have a passion for producing high-quality wines that express the unique terroir of the region. Their wines are known for their balance, complexity, and elegance, and have received numerous awards and accolades over the years.

In 2006 the Heinrichs began prioritizing sustainability. The winery focuses on organic and biodynamic viticulture practices, using only natural fertilizers and treatments to maintain the health of their vines. They also work to preserve the biodiversity of their vineyards by planting cover crops and maintaining natural habitats for beneficial insects and animals. The winery is a member of Respekt, a certifying body for biodynamic viticulture in Austria.

In addition to their commitment to sustainable winemaking practices, Weingut Heinrich also strives to be a responsible member of the local community, supporting local charities and initiatives and hosting events to promote the culture and heritage of the region.
