The Villa Atuel estates are irrigated with water from the Atuel River which comes from snow and glaciers melting in the Andes and is distributed by an extensive network of canals to different storage dams. This wine is called El Tractor to call back to the old steam tractors that dug the irrigation canals that helped make the wine region possible back in the early 20th century.
