Zippy acid and tannins on structured red berries.
Nose: Mountain breezes, roses, red berry, savory and meaty char, tea leaves.
Palate: Tart cherry and strawberry persist—both high acid and high tannin (typical of Italian reds form Piedmont).
Intriguing combo of lighter color and zippy acid with big structure to frame it and mineral finish.
Croatina is the grape, grown in Northern Piedmont and Lombardy mostly, and originally from Croatia, as its name suggests. It gives juicy but structured wine, a little similar to Dolcetto. Here winemaker Sylvia Barbaglia brings both its fruit and its strength to the forefront.
