Before becoming the Winemaker at Fairvalley in Western Cape, South Africa he was a farmer worker for 8 years in the vineyards, was promoted to general cellar worker and later became a Cellar Master at Fairview Wines. When Fairvalley Wines was established in 1998 Awie was appointed Winemaker and he’s been cultivating his love of wine and working with nature ever since.
