André Hueston Mack’s journey to becoming a winemaker is as impressive as his wines. Leaving behind a successful career with Citicorp Investment Services, he pursued his passion for wine. As a sommelier, he found joy in introducing guests to little-known vineyards and witnessing their instant gratification. Winning the title of Best Young Sommelier in America, he soon found himself at Thomas Keller’s acclaimed The French Laundry and Per Se, managing award-winning wine lists and consulting on menu and pairing development. Winemaking had always been André’s dream, and in 2007, he established Maison Noir Wines. Today, he collaborates with luminary growers and winemakers from around the world, producing unique and distinctive garage wines. From vineyards like Roserock, Zena Crown, Hyland, Elvenglade, Guadalupe, and Thistle, Maison Noir sources fruit that reflects the cool climate and well-drained volcanic soils of Oregon’s Eola-Amity Hills, McMinnville, Yamhill-Carlton, and Dundee Hills regions. Each wine embodies the care, passion, and creativity of its maker, resulting in flavors that delight the senses.
