Witches and goblins and ghouls, oh my! Or should we say, lychees and ginger and rum? Our frighteningly delicious Dark & Stormy Death Punch is perfect for your next haunted house party.
Dark and Stormy Death Punch
Serves 16-20 people
- Two 20-oz cans lychees in heavy syrup
- 1/2 cup thinly sliced peeled fresh ginger
- 32 brandied cherries
- 1/2 cup superfine sugar
- 1 cup fresh lime juice
- 24 oz Kraken Black Spiced Caribbean Rum ($24)
- Six 12 oz bottles of ginger beer
- Ice Cubes
In a small saucepan, bring the lychee syrup and ginger to a boil. Remove from the heat, cover and let steep for 30 minutes. Strain and chill in the fridge.
Stuff the lychees with the brandied cherries and put them in the fridge to chill. In a pitcher, stir the sugar into the lime juice until dissolved. Add the rum and refrigerate until chilled, about 1 hour.
Pour the lime-rum mixture into a punch bowl. Add the lychees, ginger syrup and ginger beer, stir gently and serve in ice-filled glasses.
