Women in Wine and Spirits: Estelle Dauré

Post image

As part of Women’s History Month, we at Tipsy want to shine a light on our favorite women involved in the wine and spirits business, whether they’re new to the game or industry veterans.

Estelle Dauré is the co-owner and cellar master of Château de Jau. Raised in the winemaking business, Estelle and her brother Simon have been at the forefront of maintaining vineyard inherited from their father for over 30 years.

In 1991, Estelle launched the JAJA de Jau range. While developing her signature line Estelle wanted a name for it that would be easy to remember that conveyed the lightness of the wine. The word “jaja” comes from the local slang for an everyday thirst quenching glass of wine.

In 1995 she took over the complete management of all the family’s wineries. As the figurehead of the Château de Jau, she helped the winery gain more global recognition. Under her management large parts of the vineyard were replanted to maintain the sustainable ecology of the estate. Estelle’s passion and love for the craft can be tasted in every glass.

Pick up a bottle of Château de Jau Le JaJa de Jau Sauvignon Blanc ($13) at Tipsy and taste Estelle’s wines described by Vicampo as “dynamic with a feminine touch”.
